Privacy Policy

Last updated 29 September 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Retro Connect ("we", "us" or "our") collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you use the Retro Connect mobile applications, the Retro Connect Business application and the website at retroconnect.in (collectively, the "Platform"). By using the Platform, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

  • Account details: your name, mobile number and email address (if provided) when you register or sign in through OTP verification.
  • Profile information: profile photo, bio, preferred language and saved preferences.
  • Location information: the city, area or pin code you select, and (with your permission) your device's precise location to show nearby businesses.
  • Enquiries and communications: enquiry details, messages you send to businesses, and your interactions with our support team.
  • Reviews and reports: ratings, reviews, photos and reports you submit.
  • Merchant information: for business accounts, business name, address, category, services, pricing, working hours, bank/payment details for subscriptions, and verification documents such as GST certificates, licences and identity proofs.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Usage data: searches, categories viewed, businesses viewed, saved favourites, enquiries sent and app interactions.
  • Device data: device model, operating system, app version, language, and a push-notification token.
  • Log and diagnostic data: IP address, timestamps, error logs and performance information.

2. How We Collect Information

We collect information directly from you when you register, complete your profile, submit an enquiry, write a review, contact support or list a business. We also collect some information automatically when you use the Platform, and from service providers such as SMS/OTP gateways, cloud hosting providers, payment processors, maps and push-notification services.

3. How We Use Information

  • To create and secure your account, verify your mobile number and authenticate logins.
  • To show nearby businesses, relevant categories and search results based on your location.
  • To deliver your enquiries to merchants and to keep you updated about the status of your enquiries.
  • To publish reviews, ratings and merchant replies, and to moderate content that violates our policies.
  • To verify businesses and comply with legal, tax and regulatory obligations.
  • To process subscription payments and manage your subscription.
  • To send transactional notifications, service updates and (where permitted) promotional messages, in line with your preferences.
  • To detect fraud, prevent misuse, troubleshoot issues, and improve the Platform.

4. Consent & Legal Grounds

We process personal information on the basis of the consent you provide when using specific features (for example, location access or push notifications), the performance of our contract with you, and our legitimate interests in operating, securing and improving the Platform. You can withdraw consent at any time through your device settings or the app's settings; this may limit features that depend on it.

5. Sharing & Disclosure of Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:

  • With merchants: when you send an enquiry, the merchant receives your name, contact details and message so they can respond.
  • With service providers: trusted vendors who help us run the Platform, including cloud hosting, database, SMS/OTP, push-notification, analytics, maps and payment processing providers, under appropriate confidentiality obligations.
  • For legal reasons: where required by law, regulation, court order or lawful request from a government authority, or to protect the rights, safety and property of Retro Connect, our users or the public.
  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, restructuring or sale of assets, subject to this Privacy Policy.
  • Public content: reviews, ratings, photos and business profiles you publish are visible to other users of the Platform.

6. Cookies & Similar Technologies

Our website and app may use cookies, local storage and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, measure usage and improve performance. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may affect certain features.

7. Location Data

Location access is optional. If you grant it, we use your device location to show businesses near you and to improve search relevance. You can turn location access off at any time in your device or app settings and still browse by selecting a city or area manually.

8. Push Notifications

With your permission, we send push notifications about enquiries, offers and account activity using a device token. You can disable notifications in your device or app settings at any time. Disabling notifications does not stop transactional messages sent by SMS or email where required to deliver the service.

9. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Platform. When you delete your account, we remove or anonymise your personal information, except where we are required to retain certain records for legal, tax, fraud-prevention or dispute-resolution purposes. Aggregated and anonymised data may be retained for analytics.

10. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information, including encrypted transmission (HTTPS/TLS), access controls and secure storage. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; while we work to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Your Rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction or updating of inaccurate information.
  • Request deletion of your personal information (you can delete your account from Settings in the app).
  • Withdraw consent for optional processing such as location access or marketing messages.
  • Raise a grievance with our Grievance Officer regarding the handling of your personal information.

To exercise these rights, contact us at support@retroconnect.in. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and we will respond within the timelines required by applicable law.

12. Account Deletion

You can delete your account from Settings → Delete Account in the app. Deleting your account removes your profile, saved businesses, enquiries and reviews from active use, subject to the retention exceptions described above. If you need help, email support@retroconnect.in.

13. Children's Privacy

The Platform is not intended for children under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

14. Third-Party Links & Services

The Platform may contain links to third-party websites, maps, payment gateways and services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any personal information.

15. International Transfers

Your information may be stored and processed on servers located in India or in other countries where our service providers operate. Where information is transferred outside your jurisdiction, we take reasonable steps to ensure it receives an adequate level of protection in accordance with applicable law.

16. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and provide notice through the Platform or by other reasonable means. Your continued use of the Platform after the updated policy takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

17. Grievance Officer & Contact

If you have questions, concerns or complaints about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your personal information, please contact our Grievance Officer:
